We have had SO much rain lately!
Since the tornado June 13, we've had nine inches!!
We had planned to host a picnic for some of our friends June 20 but with a soggy yard, high temperatures and humidity, we decided to bring the party inside.
Precious Daughter and her boyfriend came and were a lot of help!! They skewered the shrimp, cut the watermelon and PD even created
the floral arrangements. She also took these photos for me.
There were 12 adults and 2 young children. Our dining table holds 8 comfortably so I set up another table in the foyer. It's a bit odd to eat in the foyer but we sometimes use it as an extension of the dining room so everyone can be in the same area.
I used red bandanas on white tablecloths. My sister and I found large packages of red napkins at Home Goods so I picked up 2 packs. (We decided I could also use them at Christmas.)
I tied each napkin with a bit of twine. We used heavy disposable plates for convenience but did use real flatware. The galvanized star lanterns made another appearance. I used these last year with different colored ribbons.
Wonderful Hubby picked these wildflowers on our farm and Precious Daughter arranged them. Aren't they pretty?
Our picnic meal included grilled pork steaks and hotdogs, potato salad, mandarin orange salad, deviled eggs, baked beans, watermelon and no-bake chocolate cheese cake. One of our guests also brought a delicious dip.
We had a great time at our 'indoor picnic!' It's really about being together with good friends. Hope you're enjoying your summer!
