A Lesson in Being Content at Home

I hope this post finds you safe and healthy.  The pandemic has found its way to our rural section of the Midwest.  Several of our friends and neighbors have been affected - some feeling rotten to some being hospitalized. Whatever one wants to believe or hears on television, we are not nearly over Covid-19 yet.

Lately, I've been feeling very blessed to be able to find contentment at home and I'm wondering if that might be a lesson I can take from this experience.  After retiring, I found a lot of opportunity for volunteer work.  However, the more I did, the more there seemed to do.  I guess that's the way things work.  I remember a wise man once saying, "If you need something done, ask a busy person."  Now that my calendar has been cleared for months, I have found time to do things for myself and my family.  I've remembered what retirement is supposed to be. When this is all over and things start to return to normal, I will do my best to remember this lesson and choose to volunteer for only the things I truly feel called to do.  What have you learned about yourself over these past months?

As the season changes, I'm truly blessed to enjoy these sights from our home and along some of our local roads.

   Mornings from our back porch...

On some of our property that J has been removing brush...

Our farmer reaping a bountiful harvest....

The last of the garden cosmos before a heavy frost....

A beautiful way to spend a Fall evening at home....

I hope you able to find some contentment at home enjoying the simple joys of nature and God's blessings.

Zenda, such a lovely heartfelt post, revealing the beauty of God's masterwork in your lovely part of the world. Such lovely Fall photos and I must admit it made my heart smile when I gazed upon your cosmos. Ours are just popping up now. It won't be long till I too, can once again enjoy these happy flowers. Oh, to sit in front of that fire and just be. Oh, how wonderful to sit there and look out to the garden and farm beyond and be thankful for each day's blessings. This is what I have learnt during these troubled times. To just enjoy and drink in the little snippets of beauty that abound in my day......and to just....be. 'Tis a joy to visit your lovely place, today, lovely lady. Keep well and please take care♥

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all the pictures Zenda. Oh girl...being content! When we finished up this last Bible Study, "Get out of your head", one of the things we talked about was contentment and having the contentment that Paul had in Philippians. It was amazing to hear the ladies stories on this one word. Oh I have learned a lot dear Zenda. Long story and will spare you, LOL, the Satan came at me with such FEAR that I was struggling to be content. But praise the Lord we serve a God that knows our hearts and hears the cries of our heart. To me, like JOY, being content is something we must choose to do for the most part because let's face it...there's lots of reasons not to be content in this old world we call home. Love that saying you quoted! If you want something done ask a busy person!!! So very true. And...I surely learned the hard way on saying YES too much and I also learned that when you do something well, guess what? Those same folks will keep right on letting you do them! LOL! I still get caught up with that scene of life at times but the most part, I have surely made some changes in that area and I am so glad that I did. Sorry, didn't mean to write a book! LOL! Hugs and blessings to you dear Zenda.
