Midsummer Views

It's the middle of July and usually we are experiences hot, dry weather.  This year has been a bit different.  We have had a ton of rain (I think maybe 15 inches?!?!?)  It's so much, I've lost track.  The crops are not doing very well in our area as the ground is just so saturated!  The flowers are loving it, though.  Here are some pictures from the bed in front of the house.

Russian Sage and Limelight Hydrangeas

Oakleaf Hydrangea and Coneflowers

Limelights and Rudbeckia

More Coneflowers

Oakleaf Hydrangeas

and a late blooming clematis!

Our DAR chapter entered a float in the local youth fair and we won!  The prize money will help pay for a memorial to Revolutionary Soldiers who lived in our county.  We had a lot of fun putting the float together and then riding in the parade.  As a bonus, it didn't rain until AFTER the parade was over!

One of our members created these scrolls with all of our chapter patriots' names!  Doesn't she have lovely handwriting?

I got to take Jack to one of his swimming lessons this week.  He practiced floating on his back, kicking and putting his head under the water.
His favorite thing was jumping in, though!
Of course, he had a little help!

I hope you've had a great week!  Let me know what you've been up to.

How fun to be in the parade. You Americans always have great parades. Your garden, Zenda, is growing wonderfully. It looks as if the garden is loving all the rain. It is thriving. Love the pretty pink clematis.

Wow!!! She DOES have elegant penmanship!!! What a cool idea, and how pretty! Congratulations on your float win!!!🥇🏆

Your flowers are looking healthy and plentiful. It’s nice to see flowers proliferating like that this time of year…especially when we haven’t been burdened with having to water them ourselves as often! Ramon and I took the back road out yesterday and noticed how beautifully the corn 🌽 had come up on a couple of farms back there. REALLY tall and healthy looking. We were a little surprised given the copious amounts of rain that have fallen. Soy fields were just “meh”😐. You have reminded me that I really want to add rudbeckia and coneflowers to my flower beds. I’ll need to look up when to plant. I really want those out there!!!

Congratulations to Jack for making swimming headway!🏊‍♂️🏊‍♂️🏊‍♂️ That’s a big accomplishment!!!!

Congratulations on the float win. I love the patriotic float! Girl, we have had some rain too but came home from our beach trip and not a drop had fallen since we left. Everything looked lifeless! But we got more rain yesterday. Not a lot but some. We either get too much or not enough! Awe, glad to see Jack taking swimming lessons. Happy Week to you. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

This has been the rainiest summer ever - I'm almost looking forward to Fall in the hope that the rain will end. Your gardens are beautiful!
